VOTEN POR EL DESIERTO DE ATACAMA KABROOOOOOOS

El desierto florido es uno de los fenómenos más originales y sorprendentes que se produce cuando caen precipitaciones en una zona donde no es habitual que llueva. La Región de Atacama es el área de mayor presencia y ocurrencia de este fenómeno, cuya floración comienza a fines de julio y agosto, pudiendo perdurar hasta noviembre.Numerosas especies vegetales sobreviven a períodos prolongados, manteniéndose por largo tiempo en estado de latencia para florecer cada 3, 5 ó 10 años. Un hecho destacable es que la mayor parte de las 200 especies que conforman la flora del Desierto Florido, corresponden a variedades endémicas de nuestro país, es decir, no se encuentran en ningún otro lugar del planeta. En este inmenso jardín natural conviven terciopelos, suspiros, lirios, azulillos, añañucas, cuernas de cabra, garra de léon, y orejas de zorros, entre otros ejemplares.

La votación para candidatos seguirá durante el 7 de julio de 2009. Entonces el New7Wonders de Panel de Naturaleza de Expertos repasará a los 77 primeros candidatos y escogerá a las 21 finalistas, será anunciado el 21 de julio de 2009. Las 21 finalistas entonces serán puestas al voto popular.
